Starmade General Chat / Shops in the current dev build
« on: July 10, 2016 04:20PM »
Just giving everyone a heads up, I have been checking out the current dev build and shops are changing with the next update

A few things the note before the update arrives:

shops will require cargo spaces to store their stock, so far in my testing of it, roughly 50k cargo spaces for a fully stocked shop

shops can now pull items from a storage block to replenish its stock, as well as storage blocks can now pull items out of the shop

item trading, trade network, or what ever you would like to call it, is also coming in this update

Suggestions / Log on spawn button message
« on: November 01, 2015 06:59PM »
I would like see some basic rules/information displayed on the log on spawn button screen,
for instance, Ships left at spawn will be deleted with out warning to reduce lag for new players who log into the server.

Suggestions / PvE factions in spawn Galaxy
« on: October 28, 2015 02:33AM »
I would like to see a rule/warning system for PvP factions in spawn galaxy that consistently attack, bother, and focus on destroying the same PvE faction in spawn time and time again.
like after X times of destroying/ attempting to destroy the same PvE faction after being asked by that faction to stop bothering them since the are PvE, they are banned for X amount of time, and if they come back after the ban, and continue to enact the same kind of actions against the same faction or others then they are perm banned.

Starmade General Chat / Changing memory allocated to starmade
« on: October 23, 2015 11:17PM »
To change the amount of memory allocated to Starmade on a Windows computer, first press WindowsKey + Pause Button or right click on My Computer (This PC on some versions of windows) and click properties.

You will need to know 2 pieces of information from this screen: System type and Installed memory.
If your system type is 32-bit you will only be able to allocate 1GB of ram to starmade.
If your system type is 64-bit you will be able to more than 1GB of ram to starmade if you have Java 64-bit installed.
To determine if you have Java 64-bit installed go to Programs and Features option in Control Panel, and look for Java. If it says (64-bit) at the end then u have 64-bit.

Otherwise you will need to download 64-bit java and uninstall the current java.
Go to: and download: Windows Offline (64-bit)
After installing 64-bit java or if you have a 32-bit OS, on the first screen of Starmade, go to the options menu and click Memory Settings

On a 32-bit OS with 3GB of ram: 1024 initial, 1024 maximal, 128 early generation.
On a 64-bit OS with 4GB or ram: 1024 initial, 2048 maximal, 512 early generation.
*On 64-bit computers with more than 4GB of ram more memory can be allocated.
Make sure you enter this under client & SinglePlayer tab.

Click Ok and start game

If you are using the new Launcher, click on the gear icon next to the Launch button:

Starmade General Chat / Creating a second install of Starmade
« on: October 23, 2015 11:05PM »
To create a second install of Starmade, either for troubleshootin g or for a different reason, on the first Starmade screen go to the Options menu > Installation Settings.

Under Path will be the current installation path, I would recommend using the same path but adding a 2 at the end(G:\Starmade2), your path will be different then shown in the picture, however the \Starmade at the end should be the same.  After adding the 2 at the end click ok. It will now download a fresh copy of Starmade. All settings, login data, blueprints, etc, will be saved on the first install location but the 2nd will be set as default. To change back to the old one just remove the 2 at the end and click Ok.

Starmade General Chat / Issues logging into server?
« on: September 23, 2015 07:36PM »
I am seeing several players log in and log right back out, so I'm making this post to hopefully help them.

Here are some steps to go through if you are having difficulty logging into GenXnova:

1. Clear client cache. This is found in the tools menu of the second Starmade screen. Then try logging back in. This fixes most issues. (

2. Try restarting your computer.

3. Try a different in game name.

4. If you have access to a different computer with Starmade, try logging in on that computer. If no other computer is available, try installing a fresh copy of starmade.  Tutorial on a second install of Starmade:  (

5. If your able to, restart your internet modem/router.

6. If you are using a 32-bit version of java on a 64-bit OS, uninstall java, and install 64-bit ( click on the Windows Offline (64-bit) for a Windows PC, or the equivalent for your OS.
      general memory settings for starmade:
       4GB of RAM- 1024mb initial 2048 maximal
       6GB of RAM- 2048mb initial 4096 maximal
       8GB of RAM- 2048mb initial 6144 maximal
       16GB of RAM- 4096mb initial 8192 maximal
these settings are based on my opinion/experience, but it might not work on every pc.

If none of these steps work, try asking for help from the online from the web chat tab on the servers website, sm.lazygamerz. org . u will need to have registered on the site and already verified ur in game name.

I hope this helps anyone having issues logging into StarMade
